Whether you have a sweet tooth or you’d rather salty foods, brunches are the best combination. This meal not only requires less effort to create, but can be an easy potluck event. Here are the Sunday brunch fundamentals in order to be the best host possible.
First of all, dress your table up. Your table needs to make a statement. If you have a natural wood table, don’t cover it with a full table cloth but put small table mats will do the trick. They can be thrown in the laundry and they prevent spills from ruining your meal. Have a pick your plate type or meal. Simply place all your different options in the middle of the table in order to spend more time with your guests. Use different wooden cutting boards as platters for a nice table set up and an easy way to separate all dishes.
Drink Up
Brunch drinks have to be comforting and need to pair well with breakfast foods. We suggest sticking to the regular coffee, mimosas and fresh juices or smoothies. If kids are invited have some milk and juices available. In the summer or for outdoor brunches consider having cold brewed coffee and homemade iced tea for a refreshing feel.
Salty Must Haves
Unless your entourage is vegetarian or vegan, they’ll expect some bacon, sausages and eggs. There are many ways to cook them but they need to be included in the menu either in breakfast sandwiches, in omelettes or in a casserole. You should also have potatoes or some oven baked vegetables.
Don’t Forget the Sweet Twist
Brunch is all about mixing desert and breakfast together. You should have either pancakes, waffles or French toast on the table. You can serve them with syrup, a fruit jelly or marmalade or yogurt. There should also be a fresh fruit platter. For a healthy yet sweet option, opt for an oatmeal bar. Your guests will be able to feel their bowls with fresh fruits oats, nuts, yogurt or milk.
Now that you’re ready to have people over for brunch, carefully choose your menu. Don’t forget the croissants and don’t get over your head. Most of these baked goods can be done in advance or don’t require much cooking time!
